The Driver and The Influencer: Decision-Making Styles

When it comes to decision-making, “D” (Dominance) leaders are defined by speed and boldness. They thrive in high-pressure situations, scanning the environment and acting decisively to keep the team moving toward its goals. This drive for rapid results is a significant strength, but it carries a potential blind spot. In their haste, “D” leaders can sometimes move forward without checking in with the team, leaving others feeling unheard or overlooked.

In contrast, “I” (Influence) leaders prioritize people and passion. Their primary concern during the decision-making process is how the outcome will affect team morale and enthusiasm. “I” types focus on getting everyone excited and on board with a big-picture vision. However, their focus on maintaining high energy and a shared vision can sometimes overshadow crucial details, leading them to miss important information or potential challenges along the way.
